About the MM5K

The Megan Montgomery 5K Run/Walk is an event that aims to raise awareness and prevent domestic violence. The King Team Foundation is committed to making a difference in the lives of those affected by domestic violence. As we continue our mission we have big goals and we need your support to achieve them.

 

This year's 5K will take place on Saturday, October 26th and we are expecting a large turnout. By sponsoring our event, not only will you be helping us raise awareness about domestic violence, but also be demonstrating your commitment to the community.

 

We offer a variety of sponsorship packages to fit your needs and budget, including opportunities for branding, advertising, and social media exposure. Your contribution will help us cover the costs associated with putting on the event, and any additional funds raised will go directly to supporting awareness, education and those directly impacted by domestic violence.

 

We believe that everyone has the right to live a life free from violence, and with your support, we can make a difference in the lives of those affected by domestic violence.

Megan was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, niece and friend to all. Kind, compassionate, animal advocate, devoted volunteer at Greater Birmingham Humane Society, she earned her Master's Degree from UAB and was employed as a writer for UAB's school of nursing. She was confident, tenacious and goal oriented. Her friends described her as "A light when she entered the room, with such a big heart, non-judgmental and welcoming to all." That light was extinguished on December 1, 2019, when she was murdered by her estranged husband. Megan felt called to share her experience to help other women avoid the horror that is domestic violence. Megan's mother, stepdad and sister created the Megan Montgomery Foundation to prevent domestic violence, Inc. because it is what Megan wanted to do.

About Megan Montgomery Foundation

MISSION: To prevent relationship violence BEFORE it starts

​Megan's Foundation is a grantmaking nonprofit and a catalyst for change. They provide grants to high schools, colleges, and nonprofits for education on healthy relationships, to empower young adults to recognize unhealthy behaviors and stop relationship violence BEFORE it starts. They are a tax-exempt charitable nonprofit. They do not teach content or provide programs. They distribute funds to schools and organizations who will provide age-appropriate, healthy relationship programming for the students they serve.
